The aim of Cantiacorum Foundation is to provide charitable funding for individuals and communities in the historic County of Kent and Medway. We are also happy to support registered charities working in the same area.

Charities often write with news of how our grants have been of benefit. Please see this page for a selection of the letters we have received.

Cantiacorum Foundation aims to help  as many different charities and individuals as possible. Please see this page for details of the projects we have recently supported.

Please see this page for details of our applications process. Applications are considered at our quarterly Trustees Meetings.  Our next meeting will take place on 28th April 2024.

The Team

Pauline and Colin Kemp

When the Founders of Cantiacorum Foundation, Mr, and Mrs Beerling, were considering the establishment of the Charity they asked their Niece, Pauline if she and her husband, Colin, would agree to become Founding Trustees. They readily agreed and suggested that they be joined by their daughter Alison to complete The Trustee team.

Pauline’s career was always within the Nursing Profession. After several years she retired to have her own family. Once the children were old enough, she returned to the caring profession and was appointed Deputy Matron to a large nursing home that cared for the elderly and disabled people. Those years of experience have given her a very good understanding of the needs of people in those situations and their need for support.

Colin is also a Founding Trustee and was our first Chairperson. He retired from that position after he had reached his 80th Birthday. He remains a Trustee of the Charity.

He became a Company Manager in his mid-20s and continued in similar roles including directorships for the rest of his career.

He has lived as a partially disabled person since he was 18, the result of contracting Polio. Therefore, he has a good personal knowledge of what it is like to live in that situation. That knowledge is very helpful as we assess certain Grant Applications.

Alison Hurton

Alison is the Chair of Cantiacorum Foundation and responsible for the overall management of the Charity. As a Solicitor she has a good understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements that need to be satisfied. She is our Finance Director and works closely with our Accountant and Financial Adviser to ensure maximum growth of our investments in order that we can benefit as many causes as possible.

James McCarter

James is an IT Consultant and first became aware of the Charity when asked to provide technical support.  He subsequently designed our superb new upgraded website. His interest in the various causes we support meant that it was ideal for him to be invited on board as a Trustee.  He has a particular interest in the benefits that IT can bring to people,  whatever their situation may be.
